ABOUT US
History:   SP Communications started with an alliance between Utah State University, represented by
Steven Kubisen, and William(Bill) Shaw and Pamela Shaw in March, 2004.   Utah State had an echo
cancellation algorithm created by Professor Jacob Gunther that had the potential to solve all the problems
common to speakerphones.   The algorithm could provide a quality of conversation not previously
possible. It would provide full-time-full-duplex clear conversation.  Conversation that was the same as if
the people talking were in the same room!

In April 2004, SP Communications was incorporated as a company in the state of Delaware.

As research progressed, Bill added employees to the company.  First was Pam Shaw (Oceanside, CA) as
corporate secretary and co-founder.  An office and lab were set up in the basement of a home in Logan,
Utah.  William’s long-time friend and capable coworker, Edward Lamb (Pioneer, CA), joined the company
as CFO.  Edward had worked with Bill as CFO at Shomiti.   The team headed for the Bay area seeking
funding from venture capitalists.   The venture capitalists liked the speakerphone idea, but encouraged
Bill to fund the company without using VC capital.

Bill returned to USU seeking the most capable people for each position in SP Communications.  Carl
Haynie (Pilot Hill, CA) joined as Director of Engineering and Henry Jupille (Montrose, CO) joined as
Director of Product Design in January, 2005.  Carl and Henry had previously worked with Bill at Hewlett
Packard.   A company meeting was held in Logan.   The company voted that SP Communications would
be a self-funded company and employees would work for stock.  It was further decided that the company
would remain geographically distributed.  Initial designs were presented.  The completed business plan
was reviewed and the product development was launched.

In January 2006, Bill sought out Larry Mitchell (Auburn, CA) to join SP as Vice President of Operations.
Larry and William had worked together at Hewlett Packard.  GM Nameplate of Seattle, Washington was
selected to manufacture the plastic parts of the speakerphone.  The decision was made that final
assembly and shipping of the
Tru-Talk SP-1 would be done by Pride Industries in Roseville, CA.  Pride
Industries provides meaningful jobs for people with disabilities.  Next to join the company was Homer
Weston (San Jose, CA).  He became the  Director of Customer Support and Direct Sales.  In January,
2009 the SP-1 was finally ready to be introduced on the Internet.  SP Communications began selling and
manufacturing the
best speakerphone in the world!
